Who owns bikobiko candles?Bikobiko is proudly a woman-owned, AAPI small business. Each candle is meticulously hand poured in limited batches, crafted in my kitchen. When I’m not immersed in candle-making, you’ll often find me indulging in confections while conjuring up puns for future fragrance creations. I hope you derive as much pleasure from these candles as I do from the process of bringing these sweet scents to life! Salamat!
-
Do bikobiko candles contain paraffin? No. The candles are made from soy wax derived from crops grown in the U.S. I don’t want to wade into the paraffin vs. soy debate, I just want to make great, sweet scented candles with no harmful chemicals! The soy wax I use contains a soy-based additive that is considered natural and kosher. Bikobiko candles produce minimal soot when used properly.
-
Why is the color of your candles not as vibrant?Unlike paraffin wax which is translucent, easier to dye and can hold color better, soy wax is naturally opaque and milky white. The resulting colors are more subdued. Again, it won’t affect the scent of the candles.
-
What are safety considerations when using candles? Before each use, trim the candle wick to a length of ¼ inch Ensure that candles are positioned away from flammable objects, drafts, vents, or any air currents Always burn cables within sight Keep candles free of debris including but not limited to matches and wick trimmings Avoid burning the candle for more than 4 consecutive hours. Don’t burn a candle all the way down. Discontinue use when only ¼” of wax remains.
-
What’s the burn time of your candles? The average burn time is approximately 35 hours. Soy wax has a higher density than paraffin wax and typically burns longer than paraffin candles.
-
What is frosting?Full disclosure, these soy candles might have imperfections such as frosting. The surface of your candle may have a white, powdery appearance. Relax, it’s not a defective product. Frosting is a normal occurrence of natural wax and has no impact on its performance or scent.
